What is a fruitarian diet...
on Wednesday, October 11, 2006...
Breakfast- 10 Medjool dates and 1 avocado
Lunch- 4 apples
Dinner- 1/2 pint cherry tomatoes, 1 very large sliced cucumber, 1 cup pistachio nuts, 1 cup walnut halves, about 10-12 sun-dried tomato halves, 6-7 black olives
I served my dinner in a glass pie plate and it looked beautiful, not to mention appetizing- lots of colors and textures. Clearly, I ate more nuts than is ideal for digestion and I have that heavy stomach feeling this morning because I also ate too late and close to bed time.
Many people mistakenly believe that a fruitarian diet consists of only sweet fruits and then they go about telling people how a fruitarian diet is harmful. In their ignorance they are misleading and alarming people unnecessarily. Everything I ate on Wednesday was the fruit of a tree or plant. This is the real meaning of fruitarian. A fruitarian diet consists primarily of the fruits of the plant kingdom and also some greens. Sweet fruits, that I ate earlier in the day when I was most active, happen to be a terrific source of fuel that the body uses to function. More fatty foods mixed with non-sweet fruits might be best eaten at a time of day when one does not have a need for quick fuel, and the body can direct it's energy towards breaking down and assimilating the heavier foods. Just eat in moderation and not too close to bed time, unlike I did last night.
