Garlic is poison...
Sunday's menu:
Breakfast- sliced oranges, shredded coconut and shredded carrots and 3 Medjool dates
Lunch- Bonobo's Combo Platter with broccoli salad, marinated kale salad, Moroccan cauliflower salad and carrot walnut salad; coconut chai
Dinner- 4 of Miss Lillian's raw oatmeal raisin cookies
The broccoli salad was loaded with garlic. I haven't eaten garlic in a long while and now, after the fact, I wish I hadn't eaten it. Garlic affects me like a drug; whenever I eat it I feel knocked out and sedated. After eating the garlic laden broccoli salad I had to take a 2 hour nap. This was after having had a very sound night of sleep. According to William L. Esser in his Dictionary of Natural Foods , "Due to the presence of considerable mustard oil which is present in garlic, its regular heavy use can impair the digestive system and weaken the organs of elimination."
The philosophy of Natural Hygiene suggests that we should not eat food that we would not make a whole meal of by itself. Would you eat a whole bowl of raw garlic as a meal? Of course not; more than likely you'd become sick in your stomach. Garlic is so toxic that upon ingesting it, the body immediately goes in to overdrive to get rid of it; it tries to push it out through the pores in the skin, through the breath, the urinary track and the bowels. Hopefully, I've had enough garlic to last me a long time.
Most people might be oblivious to the toxic effect of garlic consumption because they are are so stimulated by coffee, tea and other substances which are consumed at the same meal as the garlic and the bodys response to the garlic becomes masked.
