Breakfast- 1/4 watermelon, 1 1/2 pints blueberries
Lunch- 1/2 pint blueberries, 2 pints strawberries sliced and mixed with 1/4 cup honey
I feel like I overdid it with the honey I put on the strawberries. Half that much would have been enough to satisfy me, but I was using what was left in the bottom of the jar.
The produce available at the Union Square Green Market is in it's seasonal crescendo. The local blueberries and strawberries were beautiful today and the field ripened tomatoes are beginning to arrive. I also got some corn, cucumbers and basil. One farmer was telling me that he let his organic certification lapse because the standards have been so compromised that it doesn't mean anything to him any more. According to him there are 130 plus synthetics now allowed in the organic farming standards. I've been reading the news from the Organic Consumer's Association; they've got great reporting of information related to organic standards and health issues.
