Farmer's Market, Seaweed- yuck...

Dinner- Corn salad(see recipe) over 1 head of red oak leaf lettuce

img_0118_edited.jpgThe farmer's market was remarkable this morning.  Here's what I bought: cantaloupe, sweet cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red oak leaf lettuce, chives, slicing tomatoes, blueberries, sweet yellow corn.  I would have loved to buy more but I can only eat so much. The corn salad was made with the farm fresh ingredients and it was delicious.  There are more photos in the photo gallery.

Every now and then I think that I want to change things up a little; so this afternoon I decided to buy some seaweed.  I came home and put some of it in soak water while I prepared dinner.  I was thinking that I would add it to the corn salad.  After it had soaked and I was about to add it in, I took a moment to taste it.  It was terrible!  Yuck!  Why do people recommend seaweed?  With that unappealing bitter salty taste and rubbery texture, I don't see how it could be part of our natural diet.  Thank goodness I did a taste test before adding to the corn salad and ruining it.  Maybe I'll try it again at some future time but for now I'll leave seaweed for the seagulls.
