Juliano Brotman, as in Juliano's Raw restaurant, has been given the green light to sell alcohol and has been exempt from providing the required parking for patrons who drive.  Santa Monica City Council members bent the rules for Juliano in an effort "to encourage more small neighborhood eateries...."  According to some the decision "exacerbates a critical shortage of street parking" and "is one more step toward the Manhattan-ization of Santa Monica."

Cilantro Live owner, Cristina Guzman, takes her right to vote seriously.  Cristina was seen in Tijuana at the end of a very long line of people waiting to vote in Mexico's Presidential election.  According to Cristina, who made a long trip in order to exercise her right to vote, "one vote can make a difference, so we have to stand for what we believe.”  Is this another benefit of a raw food diet, it dissolves apathy?
