Stomach stapling, overweight raw foodists...
Breakfast- 1/2 watermelon
Lunch- almost 1/2 watermelon
Dinner- Raw Marinara sauce from Raw Food Made Easy For 1 or 2 People by Jennifer Cornbleet, served over shredded zucchini, romaine lettuce, sliced cucumber, topped with avocado, and sliced black olives
I feel so disturbed by an article I just read, The Benefits of Stomach Stapling for Teenagers. This procedure is an example of treating symptoms and not causes of illness. Its an affirmation that its okay if we have serious problems- keep on suffering, but God forbid if you look like you have problems.
Earlier today I saw some images of a raw foods advocate, chef, and teacher and I was surprised to see that she is notably over weight. She does not look healthy. God bless her for sticking with the raw foods. Even so, I don't believe that an excessively overweight raw foodist is healthy. Hopefully she'll be able to address whatever is keeping that weight on.
I feel afraid and self-conscious as a thin person to be pointing out another's weight problem. However, I was an overweight child and I've had to do some serious work to address my own eating issues. Excess weight is not healthy. Changing old ways of thinking, eating, and responding to life can be painfully challenging. For me, its worth it.
