Mammea -nothing to fear, Raw Food and sunshine...

Breakfast- 6 sliced oranges

Lunch- a salad: Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, cucumbers, marinated artichokes, shredded carrots, walnuts, raisins

Dinner- 4 pieces Gopal's Power Wraps, 1 slice Ms. Lillian's Yam Pie, 1 Macadamia nut (yes, 1 nut), 2 cashew nuts (that's right, 2 nuts), Audrey's Cheese Crackers

I would have eaten more for dinner but I didn't know what else to eat that would combine well with what I'd already eaten.  I had bought a container of "no bean" Hummus from Matter of Flax but when I opened and stirred it I immediately realized that it was rancid, yuck!  That's what happens when we try to package raw food that has no business being packaged and kept on an unrefridgerated shelf.

When I wrote about the picnic I didn't mention the conversation I had with Robert Dyckman and Blanche Levine about my recent Mammea experience.  Robert said that he'd never had a problem with having gas after eating Mammea.  He suggested that possibly my stomach still contained watermelon residue that mixed with the Mammea and that the combination (watermelon & starchy fruit) caused the problem.  I might not ever know.

I am writing this because Blanche said after reading my account of having gas after eating Mammea, she decided against buying some to try even though it sounded delicious.  I told Blanche that I think my experience was very atypical and that I hope she'll go ahead and try the Mammea because it really is a very delicious fruit.

The sunshine has been wonderful that past few days.  Since I've gone all raw I notice that my skin tans readily.  I'm tanning pretty well just by laying in the sun for about 10-15 minutes a day.  I've gotten in a habit of building up a good base tan this way and usually by the middle of the summer I'm able to stay out for hours without getting burned, and that's without sunscreen.
