Alex Gurevich plans a new raw food restaurant and Westword pokes fun...
Breakfast- 1/3 large watermelon
Lunch- 3 pints blueberries
Dinner- 6 bananas, 1 large head Romaine lettuce, 1/2 ounce almonds, soaked, 1 lb tomatoes
I'm really lovin' these blueberries! The watermelon was overripe but I managed to find some edible parts.
Restaurateur Alex Gurevich is opening a new raw food restaurant, his first raw food establishment, in Denver. Of course he's chosen a provocative name, Naked. Jason Sheehan of Westword is pretty cynical about the idea, writing all that's required to run one is "lots of hippies and macrobiotic freaks." I left comment informing Jason that macrobiotic food is cooked and is unrelated to raw food cuisine.
I read something really scary on foodweek.com. Food companies are developing micro and nano scale technology to create new foods, enhance flavors, and create so-called food with unlimited shelf-life. Another really nasty sounding plan is "the recovery of bioactive compounds from waste materials and streams which are then incorporated into new foods and beverages." I also left a comment there about humanity's natural and intended food being raw f,v,n&s!
