Art and Raw Food in Seminole Heights, Raw Food and a Movie...

Breakfast- 16 oz green juice (collard, romaine, celery, 1 whole lemon); 1 lb black seedless grapes

Lunch- 3 small avocados diced and mixed with 1 pint sliced strawberries, 12 chopped Medjool dates, ¼ cup shredded coconut, juice of 1 lime

Dinner- from Caravan of Dreams restaurant: Walnut Parsley pate with flax crackers and crudite, Bombay Croquettes, Banana Almond Butter Pie

About the grapes, I actually had 2 pounds but half of them were sweet and ripe and the other half wasn’t- ugh, food disappointment. Lunch was a surprise; I just used what I happened to have in the kitchen and it turned out to be tasty. There was a wonderful unusual contrast of textures and colors.

I feeling excited about my Raw Food and a Movie event this Sunday. I went to Manhattan Plaza Health Club and tested the new equipment that we’ll be showing the film on and it all worked fine. It will be great to have Jenna Norwood herself with us, live, to answer questions! I’ve created a printable page with all of the information in the Raw Dish! Events section.

If you’re in the Saint Petersburg, FL area you must check out this new place in Seminole Heights I read about. It’s called “The Glass Onion” and ARLEEN SPENCELEY, in the St. Petersburg Times, describes it as a “co-op art gallery and venue, windows are bedecked by blown glass ornaments, walls with abstract art. Upstairs, the owner serves key lime pie, guacamole and salad from a kitchen that looks out over an organic garden. Downstairs, artists use paint and a canvas, acoustic guitars and an upright bass to entertain in the gallery, where guests learn yoga and tai chi.”

The owner is Clint Corfman, a 34-year-old glass blower, and he’s got 34-year-old Curtis Whitwam to teach raw food classes there. Curtis, according to Spenceley, says "A lot of people in a lot of places are healing themselves of very serious illnesses by incorporating raw food in their diet. There's a lot of evidence to support that."

It sounds like a great hang out where people make art, eat raw food, and play live music. I’d go check it out.
